Hunger Free Kids Task Force
Facilitated by the San Diego Hunger Coalition, the Hunger Free Kids Task Force is the leading resource for starting new afterschool supper and summer meal sites and improving existing sites.
The Task force approaches child hunger with systems-level, sustainable solutions that produce consistent, tangible results. The goal is to increase countywide participation in youth meal programs to ensure our region's low-income children have year-round access to three meals a day.

Making sure our children have enough to eat is essential for creating a strong foundation for kids to pursue their dreams. San Diego Hunger Coalition, Nourish California, and Code For America have been collaborating on the creation of an online tool that will help school districts provide free meals to as many students as possible. This tool, called Meals Count, will be featured at Code for America’s national conference this year.
