If you’ve ever used public benefits, the County of San Diego would like to hear from you! They are interested in hearing about your experiences accessing certain benefits programs.  Four listening sessions are available for you to attend during which they will gather the lived expertise of county residents who have ever considered applying for, have applied for and received, or have applied for and were denied for any of the following programs:

  • CalFresh – EBT card with funds to buy groceries [also called SNAP or food stamps]

  • Medi-Cal -- Free or no-cost health insurance [also called Medicaid]

  • CalWORKS – Temporary cash assistance on an EBT card [also called Welfare or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)]

  • General Relief – Temporary cash assistance on an EBT card

  • Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) – Monthly cash benefits to aged, blind, and disabled non-citizens who are ineligible for SSI/SSP solely due to their immigration status

This is a critical opportunity for community members to bring their voices to the table and help strengthen access to these programs by sharing what the County is doing well and what can be improved.

These listening sessions are for residents only and will be
available in English and Spanish.

Any feedback shared will not be linked to personal information and will have no impact on current or future ability to receive benefits or County services.

By participating in one of these listening sessions, residents can help direct the work the County will do to improve access to these vital programs. More listening session opportunities for community-based organization partners and in other languages will be available at a later date.
