How to Help

As food insecurity increases during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential that our community supports hunger relief efforts throughout San Diego County. There are three ways that you can help ensure that everyone has enough to eat during their time of need:

1) Donate: Making a financial contribution is the safest and most impactful way to make a difference. For example: for every $1 that you donate, a food bank can purchase 4 meals. The gift of money means more meals for more people.

2) Volunteer: All hunger relief nonprofits are currently taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that volunteers have a healthy and fulfilling experience. Many of our partners are in desperate need of volunteers to help distribute food either at a pantry or driving home delivery routes. Here are some nonprofits that need your help:

You may also find and up-to-date list on local volunteering needs at handsonsandiego.org.

Organizations may post their volunteer opportunities by contacting Hands On San Diego.

3) Spread the Word: Share this page on your social media, email it to people you know need help. You can also follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook to receive regular updates. Lastly, share information on food assistance resources with everyone you know.
